Afternoon of Experimenting Minds.

I have been absent from my blog for long time, reason being little more occupied with home front and some health issue. And very frankly K did not want to do colouring related and craft related stuff,so it is perfectly fine at my place and decide & do what u enjoy as individual. For past one year blogging I did, activity with K because she enjoyed, creatively engaged. On that note first of special thanks to friends, family and readers who enjoyed my blog and encourage me during the journey.

Now back to our creative corner, today after long time K wanted to do something after coming back from school, came to me told “Mamma I want do something “.I was really happy to hear her words and thought what can we do,so thought something which she can relate going at school too.

K school got theme plans for kids every month like for current month Our Senses & body Organs and for young explorer they have experiment session with theme ’Sink and float’.I decided to dedicate this afternoon to satisfy curious mind, and do first time experiment session.

I was making lunch and told her that she can collect some of things meanwhile. She collected lots of material which include her box,stick,ice-cream stick, coins, nuts, stone. So I made list of things in order for her in sequential order and ready for experiment once I was done with lunch preparation.

I told her drop things one by one and observe whether particular object floats or sink to the bottom accordingly, she can write F(float) or S(Sink) in front of different objects. One by one with lot of excitement she enjoyed her experiment ,mentioned her observation as S and F….even she explained me if things are light it will float and if heavy it will sink which she learnt at school.

She had wonderful time experimenting and dropping different things in water, even got all drench in the water, changed her clothes after finishing the session.

I guess this little playful idea satisfy curiosity of little minds,so worth it!!

(Posting blog without picture fun, since hubby is out of town and Camera is not available to me)

Travel Game for small kids-Mix geography with travel.

During the holidays Me and my little one was in search for some or other innovative ideas to keep our wandering souls busy.So during the one of lazy afternoon,K pulled me to play ‘TRAIN TRAIN’ game. She wanted me to be a passenger and her pretending to be Travel planner,Ticket checker,Engine driver and last guide.I enjoyed her version of train train very much.

DSCN9443

We started our tour with making train with dinning chairs in a line. Then we made K little tour office, where I gave different colourful postcard which we been collecting through post crossing ,added attraction to travel in India book (A lonely planet travel survival kit,it’s a old edition). So Travel Office is all set ,train is also ready. We are leaving,Bye bye!!

I entered K’s travel office, and I was offered lot of travel opportunity from India to different countries in the world. So once I lock my travel destination,my little one takes me to touring, pretending to having international cuisine, enjoying sanctuary, waterfall or snow filled area according the place of choice. While doing same we enjoyed clicking different animals in the sanctuary, playing with the snow balls(we did same during Manali trip),Making snowman, enjoying under the waterfall.Oh my pretending and enjoying so much !!

DSCN9428DSCN9432DSCN9440DSCN9443

We enjoyed playing same for  more than one hours, then we shifted our focus to make our own travelogue.Yes!!! when K heard the idea got excited to try the same.So our first hunt was to get some pictures which we extracted from the newspaper(otherwise taking printout from google search is also good option).

So next we made some travelogue categorized same as  green travel, food options, one into sanctuary plus oil refineries.Friends it was really fun for kids to know different places through playful method .DSCN9532

I have already thought to take this journey forward with some more planned tours.I would love to have your views for the same.

Gardening fun–Planting fun for Khwaish.

I wanted to this activity with Khwaish last month itself but busy schedule kept us waiting to start our planting activity little late.Yes friends today we had fun of gardening. Some days back I showed Khwaish plantation of an Aloe-Vera sapling in spare flower pot which she enjoyed very much and described it as really great.

DSCN8924

It was in my mind to do at least one more gardening fun with her(we had one long back with her grandfather),so I thought let’s go for it.After having our lunch,Khwaish showed no sign of sleeping,so we went to little passage near our entrance door where I had couple of spare flower pots and plants.

DSCN8939

DSCN8936

Khwaish is enjoying her friend’s company in the morning which is in my apartment. While coming back from friend’s place ,we plucked some Basil seeds from plant today.

Now we are ready with some spare pots, seeds and Khurpi(hand hoe) for digging mud from flower pot.So first I started the job of digging mud, then after digging half the pot ,dropped the seed inside pot and later covered it with mud. Finally gave little water to the plant.I told Khwaish the basic idea, how that seed will turn into plant after few days and we need to water the plant everyday.Quite a interactive session with kid.

Now Khwaish was very excited to try her hands on planting the seeds. So here she goes……from digging the mud, dropping seeds and later watering the same.

DSCN8927DSCN8934DSCN8930DSCN8931

She feel the sense of joy and proud after planting the seeds, and wanted to do some more.I want to  plant different variety of herb,so will bring some more from nursery to expand my garden with Khwaish.

Solar System-Mixing balls with clay play.

Khwaish is enjoying her summer holiday to the best,In fact peak summer restricting our moment to home.We are exploring our own ways to do activities time at home.

Last month I bought this book ’The solar system '  by Harper Collins publisher from Sapana book house to start the little discussion on solar system, vacations giving us perfect time to explore the same.Although at the time of full lunar eclipse I wish to start this topic little earlier to enjoy the shadowing moon process better. Nevertheless, its never late.

DSCN8698

We started the things with the first page watching colourful planets rotating in their orbits.

Now we took out different plastic and rubber balls collection from our toy cupboard and made them in line just like different planets,we were lucky to have some different  colour and sizes balls plus we have one perfect Earth.

DSCN8700

Started placing the things with big yellow coloured ball as Sun followed by our Mercury,Venus,Earth,Mars,Jupiter,Saturn(rings were made using cooker gasket),Uranus,Neptune and Pluto(not mentioned in the book).

DSCN8702

To take the and enjoy topic little more,we change our inputs, took out our clay box.Now time to make our different planets using different colour clay, enjoying rolling process made different planets.

Placed all the planets in the line.

DSCN8707

Different versions of Saturn…

DSCN8710DSCN8709

Planning to have some more sessions on the same topic, please pour your ideas to explore the topic in interesting way.

Meantime you can enjoy theme party inspired of the same topic by Mommy Lab,have fun!!

Done with one of exploration-Dino’s Park

I was planning to build a Dinosaur Park with Khwaish from long time back. Some of winter celebrations kept us engage plus some great snowy vacations. After getting time off from the above activity, back to the wish of making Dino Park.Initially I tried some of stationary shops in the hunt of small Dino model,to my disappointment they are actually EXTINCT creature, even little model too.

DSCN6635

So I decided  to use my chocolate mold of Dinosaurs to build our own models. At the same time read book DINOSAURS with khwaish to have little brush of knowledge plus adding fun element of watching ICE AGE Movie.
DSCN6507

With the help of mold, using POP(plaster of Paris) as base material one day was dedicated for making of Dinosaur with interaction session on,could not click at the same time due to messy session.I managed to click Khwaish while taking out Dino from the mold.
DSCN6512

DSCN6513

Next session was dedicated towards colouring the Dinos. And you guessed it right ,first colour used by  Khwaish  was PINK(her favourite). We used some of mixed colour too ,mixing the colours was great fun altogether for Khwaish plus added experiments.
DSCN6517DSCN6518
DSCN6528DSCN6527

Our Dinosaur after colouring session…
DSCN6532

Khwaish all set for giving little detail to Dino’s….eyes,nose,spikes.
DSCN6536
Once we were ready with Dinosaur,we both set to create our park theme. To start our work used white chart paper and made lot of brush prints representing Dino’s Footmark.
DSCN6537
little patches of blue, water bodies around…
DSCN6541
Then some green patches…and black on some edges as lava flow, plus pink and red patches representing hot surface which is reason why Dino got extinct.
DSCN6546

Usually we go for evening walk ,we got some stone in all sizes to create rocky mountains during one of the walk session.
DSCN6615

Now time to put everything on board,we started with pasting some spare sticker of Dino from our book.I gave option to Khwaish to paint those rocky mountains in different colours, but she wanted to keep it natural and simple. So here we go ,placing mountains on our plain surface complimented by some green tree which I got when I was searching for Dino’s model.Added one little volcano on the corner…
DSCN6620
DSCN6626
Time to put main element in the park….. Dino’s .

DSCN6633

Tadaaaa….here is our Dino Park.
DSCN6627
We had great time in  making Dino park, plus a good learning experience for me and Khwaish with lot of exploration .Please share your views and idea for Dino exploration process.
