After  doing one session of gardening during the vacations, got little more confident to try our hands on the same again.I tell you friends ,it is  so much fun and productive activity to so with kids,so at least try it once!!

So this time to do it again, first I went through site Urban leaves of India which provides really great inputs for beginners. So here I pick up some ideas ,used one recycled container and purchased one new rectangular tray tub for planting some basic plants can be used in kitchen .We are all set to extend our garden.

For the gardening purpose,Khwaish and I  went together to collect some soil in the containers, even its is fun for us,specially K.She had done planting of basil seeds before,so this time she seems to expert on planting Fenugreek and coriander seeds.

So here we all set….

First put liitle soil in rectangular tray, poured some coriander seeds(Please  follow special instruction for planting coriander seeds)covered it with soil again. We are ready with little coriander garden.K watered the garden.

Gardening fun–Planting fun for Khwaish.

I wanted to this activity with Khwaish last month itself but busy schedule kept us waiting to start our planting activity little late.Yes friends today we had fun of gardening. Some days back I showed Khwaish plantation of an Aloe-Vera sapling in spare flower pot which she enjoyed very much and described it as really great.

It was in my mind to do at least one more gardening fun with her(we had one long back with her grandfather),so I thought let’s go for it.After having our lunch,Khwaish showed no sign of sleeping,so we went to little passage near our entrance door where I had couple of spare flower pots and plants.

Khwaish is enjoying her friend’s company in the morning which is in my apartment. While coming back from friend’s place ,we plucked some Basil seeds from plant today.

Now we are ready with some spare pots, seeds and Khurpi(hand hoe) for digging mud from flower pot.So first I started the job of digging mud, then after digging half the pot ,dropped the seed inside pot and later covered it with mud. Finally gave little water to the plant.I told Khwaish the basic idea, how that seed will turn into plant after few days and we need to water the plant everyday.Quite a interactive session with kid.

Now Khwaish was very excited to try her hands on planting the seeds. So here she goes……from digging the mud, dropping seeds and later watering the same.

She feel the sense of joy and proud after planting the seeds, and wanted to do some more.I want to  plant different variety of herb,so will bring some more from nursery to expand my garden with Khwaish.

Extension to Mint Farm.

I’m happy to write about our harvesting experience.Few months back during the Khwaish Dadaji(grandfather) visit,we jointly created a farm-A mint farm.Last weekend we went to our little farm and done harvesting of mint crop from same,I m really happy to see the smile and excitement on khwaish’s  face during cutting the mint leaves with the help of the scissors.

I ‘m glad that she could experience the process of farming through the little joint effort, special thanks to Dadaji too.In between she is showing me joy of seeing her mint leaves grown all over.

Well to continue our green project ,we had sown coriander this time….

One more addition we made to our farm is fence. We made fence with the help of the broken tiles….

I guess we will have to wait for couple of more months to reap coriander crop.

Overall this green project is giving us opportunity to bring ,little green ideas into reality.

Khwaish had conversation with her Dadaji regarding crop cutting, she happily told her grandpa about same ,I enjoyed same conversation and bonding always.

Well whole idea just started while plucking pudina leaves (mint ) for chutney preparation. We had conversation to plant little mint plants near to our place….so we set with our farming tool in the morning with khwaish  Dadaji.

Things started with digging the ground for plantation,we chose our farm in the rectangle shape as per khwaish’s wish with dadaji’s help.Once the land was ready we started planting little mother mint plant in our garden…while planting the plants Khwaish was really excited to see her little plants to grow faster.

I’m really happy to put little initiative with Khwaish and her grandpa to create little farm land.Looking forward to see our plants growing up.

This Mint project is healthy initiative and learning for Khwaish to learn-

  • Her love for green environment –practical experience to know plantation is done.
  • Knowing the process of farming-plough,seeding,watering,giving fertilization to plants.
  • Making bond with nature stronger.
  • Reap the results of her hard work.
  • Since activity is done with grandpa…stronger bond with him too.
  • Experience to know about planting mint plant…now she know where chutney leaves come from.

In few more days planning to plant some more plants.
